Implant provisionalization is the process of placing a temporary restoration on an implant abutment after surgery.This temporary restoration, also known as a provisional implant crown, protects the implant and soft tissue while it heals.

When a temporary restoration is placed within 48 hours of implant placement.
When a provisional restoration is placed after initial healing.
Why is it done?

What are the considerations?
- The provisional restoration should be modified to reduce the number of disconnections from the implant.
- The provisional restoration can be adjusted to clear all centric and eccentric contacts, in other words, you should not bite on it.
